In 2016 I got a phone call from one of my friends who I worked with back in the 90’s. They had said that a mutual friend of ours, Sheila, had died on 12th February. This news came out of the blue, and shook all of us. It later transpired that she had taken her own life.
This song was written while having a coffee in a hotel prior to the funeral. The whole song came out as I sat there. I scribbled it down in my journal that I always carry with me.
